Hard to watch is the best way to describe this film.
Its plot centered around a group of people who share a common interest of
collecting frozen entrees. Each person in the film has a seemingly unsuccessful
aspect to their life outside of their club. The characters have a profound
enthusiasm for something that seems ridiculous but allows for them to fit into
their own social environment. The funny aspect is that they all have jobs even
if some are more obscure than others. One point in the film where the humor
reaches its exaggerated points are when the go into the no choice café. This film
ironically takes place in Arizona, a prodomantly republican state with some
extreme ideals making this reflect on the current situation politically with
the region. The funny thing about the film is that the concept is not farfetched
because of the obscure ideas of value that people have. The value placed on TV
diners is just as ridiculous as many other collections such as toys and models
which prevent the person form using the object for its intended use just to
give it a sense of vintage and refer to it as worth something. The film was one
in such that when you watch it, it makes you feel embarrassed for those in the
film because of how odd their behaviors are. Overall the film relies one exaggeration
too much for humor instead of mixing it up. The scenes went from one ridiculous
moment to another with no real break from the extremes.
